Matthew J. Halvorsen
Mr. Halvorsen has over twenty years of experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. He holds numerous patents in the field of lyophilization and continues to develop new technologies within the industry. As President of Lyophilization Services of New England he took his company with just one employee to one having three plant locations and 140 employees. From development to manufacture, he takes pride with working one on one with customers to provide the specialized service they require. Matt attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute studying Biology, in Troy, New York.
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Cain has over twenty years of experience in combining process engineering and project management to direct the development and manufacture of aseptically processed pharmaceuticals, cell based biologics, and medical devices. Most recently he was the Director of Facilities and Engineering at Organogenesis, Inc., the world leader in regenerative medicine. Mr. Cain was also the Director of Operations for a pharmaceutical contract manufacturer, Formatech, Inc. Prior to that he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Arbios Systems, Inc. Arbios developed proprietary medical devices and cell-based therapies to enhance the survival of patients suffering from life-threatening episodes of liver failure. Mr. Cain holds several patents, received his M.S. degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Massachusetts and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Northeastern University.
Vice President of Quality & Regulatory
Mr. McGrath has direct oversight of Quality operations at all LSNE manufacturing sites which includes both Quality Assurance and Quality Control. He is responsible for driving overall quality and maintaining the organization’s unrelenting commitment to patient safety. Mr. McGrath’s 17 year career includes extensive experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries. In his most recent position, Mr. McGrath was the Senior Director, Quality for Aseptic Services at AMRI Burlington, Inc. In this role he oversaw all QA, QC and Validation activities at the site and was instrumental in their recent Regulatory success. Prior to AMRI, he has held positions of increasing responsibility with development and quality at Praecis Pharmaceuticals Inc., CombinatoRx Inc., and AMAG Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Mr. McGrath received his B.A. degree in Chemistry from The College of the Holy Cross.
Vice President of Commercial Drug Manufacturing
Mr. Hechavarria brings over 35 years of parenteral pharmaceutical industry experience to Lyophilization Services of New England. Just prior to joining LSNE, Mr. Hechavarria provided 3rd party consulting support to Genzyme Corporation assisting in the mitigation of FDA Consent Decree & Warning observations; Previously served as VP of Manufacturing for Adventrx Pharmaceuticals Inc., a biopharmaceutical research and development company focused on commercializing proprietary product candidates for the treatment of cancer and infectious diseases. Mr. Hechavarria began his career at New England Nuclear Corporation where he was responsible for Quality Assurance for the radiopharmaceutical business and, later, following a succession of acquisitions by E.I. duPont de Nemours & Co., DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Company and Bristol-Myers Squibb, served as Director of Manufacturing Technology & Development for Bristol Myers Squibb Medical Imaging, providing manufacturing leadership to several successful international product launches while overseeing contract manufacturing, Technical Support and Supply Chain logistics. Mr. Hechavarria holds a B.S. in chemical technology from the University of Lowell, an A.S. in Nuclear Engineering Technology from the Wentworth Institute, and has completed post graduate training in parenteral therapeutics agents at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy.
Vice President of Operations
Ms. Hodge has over ten years of experience in the pharmaceutical and food industry. In 1997, Aimee joined Stonyfield Farms, Inc. which specializes in the production of natural organic dairy products as a QC Laboratory Technician. In 2000, Aimee joined LSNE and has grown with the company and is now Vice President of Operations for the Manchester and Commerce Drive sites. Aimee is responsible for manufacturing and facility operations. She works one on one with customers to help them develop their products, while meeting cGMP requirements. Aimee earned her B.S. in Biology from the University of New Hampshire.
Vice President of Operations
Mr. Abernathy has over fifteen years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry and has a well rounded knowledge of the various avenues of the field. In 1998, Damon joined the pharmaceutical company, Collagensis, Inc. as a Lead Process Technician before being promoted to Production Supervisor. In 2002, Damon joined CIS-US, Inc. as a Contract Manufacturing Quality Liaison. Before joining LSNE in 2006, Damon spent one year working at Antigenics, Inc. managing all aspects of the product for early stage cancer vaccines. Damon currently serves as Vice President of Operations at the Harvey Road facility where he manages all aspects of the aseptic facility. Damon earned a B.S. from Saint Anselm College.
