Sharing a vision of positively impacting public health, they are responsible for the day-to-day operation of our global network of manufacturing operations and utilized matrix management style across our now six cGMP facilities.
Matthew Halvorsen Founder, President & Chief Executive Officer
Matthew has over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. He holds numerous patents in the field of lyophilization and continues to develop new technologies within the industry. As founder, he has overseen the growth of LSNE over the last 20+ years from a small start-up contract manufacturing organization into a recognized leader in the field. Matt studied Biology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Shawn Cain Chief Operating Officer
Shawn has over thirty years of experience in combining process engineering with project management to direct the development and manufacture of sterile pharmaceuticals, cell-based biologics, and medical devices. Most recently he was at Organogenesis, Inc., specializing in bio-active wound healing. Mr. Cain was also the Director of Operations for another pharmaceutical CDMO, Formatech, Inc. Prior to that, he was Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Arbios Systems, Inc. Mr. Cain was also the Vice President of Operations for Circe Biomedical, Inc., where he led the development of the bioartificial liver technology. Mr. Cain holds six patents, received his M.S. degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Massachusetts and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Northeastern University.
Joseph Kiely Chief Financial Officer
Joe leads the Finance group and serves as the Secretary and Treasurer for LSNE. Before joining LSNE, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Advion, Inc. Prior to that, he advised chief financial officers as a senior manager for BearingPoint Inc. within the World Class Finance group and worked in the Audit practice at KPMG LLP. His background includes mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, system implementations, business development, financial & business strategic planning, and global operations. Joe earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Siena College and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Bryan Koeppl Chief Strategy Officer
Bryan joined LSNE in 2019 and is responsible for developing, communicating, executing, and sustaining corporate strategic initiatives. These initiatives include defining the Mergers and Acquisitions vision, Integration execution, setting company strategies and other corporate level activities. Bryan has over 20 years of corporate development, financial, and operating experience and served in a similar capacity across a multitude of industries including Healthcare, Chemicals, Packaging and Financial Services. Bryan received his B.S. in Finance and Management from the University of Florida and holds a Black Belt certification in the Six Sigma discipline.
Christine Palus Vice President of Strategic Accounts & Corporate Development
Christine joined LSNE in 2010 to support the addition of the fill-finish and process development site located in Bedford, NH. She is responsible for managing key accounts and implementing strategic sales plans. Christine has 15 years of experience in sales, specializing in the contract manufacturing sales to support parenteral injectable products. Before joining LSNE, Christine was an Account Manager at Althea Technologies where she was responsible for fill-finish sales in the Northeast. She received a B.S. in Biology from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.
Jeff Clement Vice President of Business Development
Jeff joined LSNE in 2014 and he manages the Business Development team and oversees marketing. Jeff has over twenty-five years in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries and his career includes experience in the pharmaceutical discovery sciences, high throughput automation, clinical formulation development, and cGMP analytical and manufacturing contract services. All his business development experience is in the aseptic manufacturing and analytical fields. Prior to his current role, Jeff was previously the Director of Global Business Development at AMRI (Drug Product). Jeff received a B.S. in Biology from Keene State College and a M.S. in Quality Systems from The New England College of Business.
Aimee Hodge Vice President of Technical Operations
With more than twenty years of experience at LSNE, Aimee has direct responsibility for the technology transfer, MTS and project management groups across our numerous contract manufacturing facilities. She brings together knowledge of industry practices, regulations, quality and customer service to ensure the successful execution of all pharmaceutical and medical devices projects. She holds several patents for medical devices and received a B.S. in Biology from the University of New Hampshire.
Damon Abernathy Vice President of Operations
Damon joined LSNE in 2006, coinciding with the addition of sterile fill-finish capabilities. He is responsible for the NH site operations, materials handling, visual inspection/packaging and labeling groups. He has over 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience within operations and quality groups. Before joining LSNE, Damon managed the production of early-stage autologous cellular cancer vaccines at Agenus (Antigenics), and prior to that supervised quality for a portfolio of globally manufactured commercial parenteral products for Pharmalucence (A-Sun Pharma Company). He is a Certified Project Manager and received his B.S. degree in Biology from St. Anselm College.
Thomas McGrath Global Vice President of Quality & Regulatory
Tom has direct oversight of all quality assurance, quality control, analytical development, and regulatory affairs across all LSNE’s business units. He has over twenty years of experience in drug development, quality, and regulatory roles, with the last decade+ focused on aseptically processed pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Prior to joining LSNE in 2014, he was Sr. Director of Quality for Aseptic Services at AMRI–Burlington, where he led successful remediation efforts. Before that he held development and quality positions of increasing responsibility at AMAG Pharmaceuticals, CombinatoRx and Praecis Pharmaceuticals. Tom received his B.A. degree in Chemistry from The College of the Holy Cross.
Jay Bonewit Vice President, Quality – U.S.
Jay is an accomplished leader with over 20 years of pharmaceutical experience in product development, manufacturing, and quality. Jay joined LSNE in 2018 to support the New Hampshire quality team with the continuing global expansion of the organization. Prior to joining LSNE, he held multiple leadership roles at Catalent Pharma Solutions and Bausch & Lomb. Jay received is B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Florida.
Edwin Harmon Vice President of Validation & Engineering
Edwin joined LSNE in 2016 and is responsible for driving and developing strategies for safety, compliance and continuous improvement for the Engineering/Facilities/Validation functions. He previously led manufacturing operations and technical teams at Biopure Corp, ImmunoGen and Sanofi. Edwin received his BSEE from West Virginia University Institute of Technology. Additionally, Edwin is a Board of Director Member for the Boston/NE International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) chapter and an Advisory Board Member with the Middlesex Community College Biotechnology program. He also is a member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), Parenteral Drug Association (PDA), Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
Deborah Clark Vice President of Human Resources
Deb joined LSNE in 2012 and is responsible for leading the human resources department overseeing all facets of HR, with a focus on long and short-term strategic objectives for scalability of growth. She has successfully led integration strategies for acquisitions and will continue to lead and provide HR support across our multiple locations. Deb has over 25 years of experience in human resources and has led all disciplines including driving organizational initiatives, talent acquisition and management, performance development and employee relations. Deb holds a degree in Business Administration.
